Vg. Starchak et al., EFFECT OF STRUCTURE ON THE INHIBITIVE PROPERTIES OF 2-MERCAPTOBENZIMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVES, Protection of metals, 31(1), 1995, pp. 60-63
The effect of the chemical structure of 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (MBI-2
) derivatives on their inhibitive properties was quantitatively estima
ted. An n-Cl substituent in the benzene ring imparted 2-MBI with the h
ighest inhibiting efficiency in the media investigated (HCl, HC1+ H2S,
and H2SO4, pH 1). This correlated with the positive bridge effect and
most active chemisorption of the inhibitor due to the four reaction c
enters involved: sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen atoms and the benzene ri
ng.
