Abstract
The case of a 43-year-old man is reported in which a 15-cm defect of t he tibia sustained 8 months previously was treated by the double-rib c omposite microvascular free transfer. The fracture site united, and th e grafted ribs showed some hypertrophy at 1 year. He returned to his j ob. At 5 years follow-up, the x-ray film showed good hypertrophy of th e grafted ribs.
