Abstract
Results of the investigation of nonthermal chemical reactions due to t he deformation and fracture of solids are summarised. Special attentio n is given to the analysis of relaxation of elastic energy in solids, nature and properties of intermediate metastable chemically active sta tes and molecular mixing at low temperatures. Possible directions of b asic investigations are discussed in conclusion. Bibliography-89 refer ences.
