Abstract
Three cases of female circumcision are presented together with a liter ature review. Unfortunately, this procedure frequently results in geni tal mutilation. Treatment with deinfibulation enables restoration of t he external genitalia and vagina. Obstetric and gynaecological complic ations have been documented, but emotional and psychological effects m ay be difficult to assess. These women should be treated without bias and with sensitivity.
