Examination of the early hydration of a production Class G oilwell cem
ent by conduction calorimetry under temperature simulated API Schedule
5 and Schedule 8 conditions, using calcium lignosulphonate retarder a
nd 'doped' additions of pure tricalcium silicate and tricalcium alumin
ate, has demonstrated significant changes in the precise course of hyd
ration if one or more of these additions be present. Reasons for such
changes are given.
