Liver homogenate glutathione (GSH) content, lipid peroxide levels and
the activities of GSH metabolizing enzymes were studied in rats after
24 hours of galactosamine (GalN) treatment. Lipid peroxide levels incr
eased whereas hepatic GSH content was decreased significantly. On the
other hand, hepatic gamma-glutamyl cysteine synthetase activity was un
affected by GalN administration but gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase acti
vity increased.
