A summary of the polarized and aligned nuclear targets which have been
constructed and used at the Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory
is given. Statically polarized targets, typically operating at a tempe
rature of 12 mK and a magnetic field of 7 T, have provided significant
nuclear polarization in H-1, He-3, Al-27, Nb-93 and Ho-165. A rotatin
g, aligned Ho-165 target is also in use. A He-3 melting curve thermome
ter has been developed for use in statically polarized targets. A dyna
mically polarized proton target is under construction.
