Me. Olsen et al., COMMUNICATING DOUBLE UTERUS WITH OBSTRUCTED HEMIVAGINA AND SUBSEQUENTABSCESS FORMATION - A CASE-REPORT, Adolescent and pediatric gynecology, 8(1), 1995, pp. 35-38
Background: Communicating double uterine anomalies are defined as mull
erian defects which involve two hemiuteri with communication between t
he uterine halves. Nine subcategories of communicating uterine anomali
es have been described; only two of these subcategories are associated
with hemivaginal obstruction. Case: An 11-year-old white female was b
rought to the Emergency Department with fever and acute pelvic pain. T
his condition was found to be caused by abscess formation behind an ob
structed left hemivagina with involvement of a communicating double ut
erine anomaly. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first case re
port involving a communicating double uterine anomaly in which fever w
as a presenting symptom.
