Vf. Nesterenko et Mp. Bondar, LOCALIZATION OF DEFORMATION IN COLLAPSE OF A THICK-WALLED CYLINDER, Combustion, explosion, and shock waves, 30(4), 1994, pp. 500-509
The thick walled cylinder method is used to study the character of pla
stic deformation localization (PDL) in materials with various crystall
ine lattice structures, defect packing energy, and grain size. It is s
hown that the development of the localization process leads to restruc
turing of the medium during collapse. The character of this restructur
ing, determined by the type of PDL bands and crack formation, depends
to a large degree upon grain size. It is shown that the restructuring
of fine-grained copper and Teflon is similar. In the copper developmen
t of microstructure with increased deformation rate was observed.
