Abstract
A well preserved lamellibranch fossil cast belonging to Genus: Crassat ella of Cretaceous-Miocene age and fossil bearing phosphatic rock piec es were recovereby grab sampling from the continental shelf edge, off Madras. Phosphatic rockcontain Globigerina linaperta of Upper Paleocen e-Lower Eocene age. Cretaceoussedimentary sequence of Cauvery basin is occuring on the seabed in continentalshelf edge, off Madras.
