SEROLOGICAL STUDIES AND DETECTION OF CHLA MYDIA-PSITTACI IN GENITAL SECRETIONS AND MILK OF COWS

Chlamydia psittaci was detected in genital swabs and milk samples of c ows with fertility problems using two commercially available kits, an ELISA and a latex test. Positive ELISA results were observed in 70 gen ital swabs, from 106 cows on 15 farms, whereas only 25 were positive i n the latex test. Fifteen milk samples taken from the same cows were p ositive in the ELISA and 5 in the latex test. Serum samples were exami ned using two indirect ELISAs, 90% of the cows examined were positive.
