The alpha-iminocarboxylato chelate complexes RuH(CO)[OOC-C(R(1))=N-R(2
)](PPh(3))(2) (1), eta(6)-p-cymene)RuCl[OOC-C(R)=N-CH(2)CO(2)Me] (3) a
nd CpCoI[OOC-C(R(1))=N-R(2)] (4) have been obtained from RuHCl(CO)(PP
h(3))(3), [(eta(6)-p-cymene)RuCl2] and CpCo(CO)I-2, respectively and
2-oxocarboxylate/amine. The structure of (eta(6)-p-cymene)RuCl[OOC-C(C
H3)=N-CH(2)CO(2)Me] (3a) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. By
use of diamines the corresponding dinuclear cobalt and iridium complex
es (5, 6) are formed from 2-oxocarboxylate and CpCo(CO)I-2 or [Cp*IrC
l2](2).
