Abstract
The regioselective epoxide opening of different 2,3-anhydropyranoses b y cyanotrimethylsilane is investigated. The isolated cyanodeoxy pyrano ses allow easy access to the corresponding branched-chains aminomethyl sugars by lithium aluminium hydride reduction or sugar amides by cont rolled acid hydrolysis.
