Abstract
A total of 380 isolates of halophilic Vibrio and related bacteria isol ated from shellfish bred in the Ebre delta (in northeastern Spain) wer e studied by biochemical characterization; this allowed the use of num erical taxonomy programs. All but 25 isolates fell into 12 phena. The analysis of whole-cell electrophoretic fingerprints of 100 isolates co nfirmed the numerical analysis of biochemical and morphological traits .
