The selective formation of omega-isocyanatoalkyl (meth)acrylates may b
e conveniently obtained by simple condensation of potassium cyanate wi
th omega-halogeno-alkyl (meth)acrylates under appropriated phase trans
fer catalytic conditions. Depending on the reaction media and the temp
erature, these isocyanate derivatives may be isolated, trimerized to t
he corresponding isocyanurates or trapped in situ as carbamates or ure
as compounds.
