Abstract
Ovarian preservation before abdominal irradiation may be recommended f or young patients with various types of invasive cancer. The most comm on site for ovarian transposition is just below the iliac crest or pos terolateral to the uterus. Here, we demonstrate laparoscopic ovariopex y with an automatic stapling device to transpose the ovaries to an unc ommon site, i.e. lower anterolateral abdomen, in a patient with medull oblastoma prior to her receiving irradiation of the craniospinal axis. The anterolateral transposition of the ovary not only kept it away fr om the irradiated field but allowed it also to be shielded by the uter us. Thus, ovarian function could be web preserved.
