The behavior of Cs-137 during NH4Cl formation from the vapor is studie
d. In the presence of a carrier (1 mg Csl), two types of radioaerosols
are formed: (137)Csl and Cs sorbed on metal oxides found in the suppo
rt for the radioaerosol generator. Both form mixed-micelle aerosols wi
th NH4Cl, the strength of which is different and probably determined b
y the surface properties of the radioaerosol. The ability of Cs-137 to
form mixed aerosols with nonradioactive macrocomponents can be used t
o mitigate the consequences of accidents.
