Va. Usoltsev et Is. Krepkii, REGRESSION-ANALYSIS OF VERTICAL-FRACTION DISTRIBUTION OF ROOT MASS INAMAN-KARAGAI PINE FORESTS, Russian journal of ecology, 25(2), 1994, pp. 87-97
An adequate regression model was constructed to describe the architect
onics of root mass for pine of natural and artificial origin on two ty
pes of soils, according to age, trunk diameter and height, depth of pe
netration of the root system, thickness of a given fraction's roots, a
nd the distance of the latter from the soil surface. The model has a s
tandard error of 30% in determining the mass of root fractions in a gi
ven range of thicknesses at a given distance of the soil layer from th
e surface and provides the opportunity for comparative evaluation of e
xperimental data on root mass obtained with different gradations of th
e roots' diameters and thicknesses of the soil layers.
