Ea. Shubina et al., BLOT HYBRIDIZATION OF REPEATED SEQUENCE FAMILY OF HUMPBACK SALMON (ONCORHYNCHUS-GORBUSCHA), Molecular biology, 28(5), 1994, pp. 743-747
A family of DNA repeated sequences from Pacific salmons (genus Oncorhy
nchus) with species-specific restriction endonuclease digestion patter
ns was studied. The experiments were performed with Oncorhynchus gorbu
scha DNA in which this DNA fraction is easily detected electrophoretic
ally. Comparative analysis of blot hybridization experiments was done,
in which one of the fragments obtained by restriction endonuclease di
gestion of homologous or heterologous DNA was used as a hybridization
probe. By comparing the electrophoretic profiles with blot hybridizati
on patterns and taking into account the size of DNA fragments particip
ating in the reaction, one could suggest a hypothetical structure of D
NA repeated sequence family composed of scattered or clustered repeats
and demonstrate the presence of units with higher degree of similarit
y within such a family.
