Abstract
The anti hypertensive efficacy and tolerability of on ce-daily adminis tration of a fixed-dose combination of lisinopril 20 mg/hydrochlorothi azide 12.5 mg was assessed in a population of 10,525 patients containi ng a high proportion of hypertensive obese subjects. The majority of t hese patients had been inadequately treated with a variety of antihype rtensive drugs. The study treatment produced a further fall in diastol ic blood pressure with once-daily administration for 3 months. Seventy -seven percent of the patients achieved the target diastolic pressure less than or equal to 90 mmHg. The combination of lisinopril 20 mg/hyd rochlorothiazide 12.5 mg was effective and well tolerated in a populat ion of obese hypertensive patients with high incidence of concomitant medical conditions. Adverse events were infrequent as were withdrawals from treatment. (C) 1995 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
