Abstract
The effects of fumonisin B1 (FB 1) on the morphology of chicken perito neal macrophages were studied, It was found that FB1-exposure caused n uclear disintegrations in peritoneal macrophages. The number of macrop hages experiencing nuclear disintegration increased with the rise in t he dose of FB1 from 6 to 18 mu g ml(-1). The finding implies that diet ary intake of FBI may damage the macrophages in consumers rendering th e latter susceptible to infection.
