Abstract
The X-ray crystal structure of tetramethyl thiophenetetracarboxylate h as been determined. Colourless, plates of C12H12O8S crystallise in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with cell dimensions a = 18.321(7), b = 17.98(1), c = 8.675(6)Angstrom; V = 2858(5)Angstrom(3) and z = 8. 156 8 unique reflections with I-net > 2 sigma(I) on refinement afforded va lues of R = 0.040 and R(W) = 0.034.
