This paper considers the problem of controlling nonlinear uncertain sy
stems arising from flexible aerospace structures, We begin by addressi
ng the tracking problem for a class of nonlinear dynamic systems with
modeling uncertainties and external disturbances, New control algorith
ms that accommodate modeling uncertainties are proposed, It is shown t
hat these algorithms not only guarantee system stability but also achi
eve certain bounded performance index and are readily applicable in vi
bration suppression of large flexible space structures, Numerical veri
fication of the proposed strategy is demonstrated via the lumped mass
model of a hypersonic aerospace night vehicle structure.
