Abstract
Reaction of [{Ru(eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))(mu(3)-Cl)}(4)] with 2 equivalents o f REER (E = S, Se or Te; R = ferrocenyl) gave novel ferrocenylchalcoge nolate-bridged diruthenium complexes [{Ru(eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))CI(mu-ER)}( 2)] in good yields. Reduction of these by sodium amalgam in the presen ce of buta-1,3-diene afforded Ru(eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))(mu-ER)}(2)(mu-s-tra ns-eta(2): eta(2)'-CH2=CHCH=CH2)], whereas treatment with AgOSO2CF3 pr oduced,the co-ordinatively unsaturated complexes )Me(5))Ru(mu-ER)(2)Ru (eta(5)-C(5)Me(5))][OSO2CF3]. The structures of five of the complexes have been defined by X-ray crystallography.
