Inelastic collisions of the slow monokinetic electrons with the KI mol
ecules have been investigated using the method of extended crossing be
ams with recording an optical signal from the intersection region. The
dissociative excitation cross sections for K and K+ lines are measure
d at the 100 eV electron energy. It is found that for K the dependence
of the dissociative excitation cross sections from the principal quan
tum number is described by the power law. The optical excitation funct
ions are recorded in a range of electron energies 0 to 100 eV. Probabl
e reaction mechanisms at the low electron energies are briefly discuss
ed.
