In the present work was determined the extent of somaclonal variabilit
y in adventitious and axillary shoots regenerated in vitro from mature
embryos and cotyledons of seedlings and in long-term callus cultures
of vital hybrid A. concolor x A. grandis. Karyological analysis was re
alised by determination of chromosome numbers in mitotic cells and by
flow cytometric analysis of nuclear DNA content. Our results showed th
at both adventitious and axillary shoots as well as long-term callus c
ultures are karyologically stable and remain at the diploid level.
