C. Belzil, UNEMPLOYMENT-INSURANCE AND UNEMPLOYMENT OVER TIME - AN ANALYSIS WITH EVENT HISTORY DATA, Review of economics and statistics, 77(1), 1995, pp. 113-126
Using event history data, the paper analyzes the distribution of reemp
loyment spell durations conditional on the completed length of the pre
ceding (contiguous) spell of unemployment. The model is used to infer
how Unemployment Insurance, through unemployment duration, may affect
the likelihood of reentering unemployment. Special attention is paid t
o the endogeneity between unemployment and reemployment duration and t
he sample information contained in the fact that some individuals obta
in reemployment by recall as opposed to acceptance of a new job.
