With the increasing incidence of cervical adenocarcinoma there is a gr
owing interest in the detection and treatment of glandular precursors.
A major obstacle to this research is that endocervical glandular dysp
lasia (EGD) is rare and infrequently reported. From a study of 30 pati
ents it appears that EGD often occurs with concomitant squamous dyspla
sia and also benign and preinvasive glandular changes in the cervix an
d endometrium. If EGD is detected on cervical biopsy hysteroscopy, dil
atation and curettage and cone biopsy should be performed. (C) 1997 Ac
