Abstract
The method of surface Green function matching (SGFM) is extended to th e case of an arbitrary number N of interfaces so that all the SGFM for mulae are obtained in a compact N x N matrix (or supermatrix) form rea dy for practical calculations. As an example, shear (surface horizonta l) waves in a Ni-W-AI-Ni structure are studied by a straightforward ap plication of the general formulae. The range of applications of physic al interest is stressed.
