Abstract
The ability of oxygen vector to extract produced carbon dioxide has be en tested in an anaerobic fermentation. During the continuous culture of Clostridium acetobutylicum at pH 4.6 and at a dilution rate of 0.12 4 h(-1), a feed composed of an emulsion of 18.5% by volume of Forane F 66E was able to extract about 9% of the total CO2 produced under CO2 p artial pressure equal to 0.42 atm. A theoretical evaluation of the ext racted amount, based on the hypothesis of total saturation of the vect or by carbon dioxide, has lead to very good agreement.
