Ya. Youssef et al., COMPARISON OF A FULL FACTORIAL EXPERIMENT TO FRACTIONAL AND TAGUCHI DESIGNS IN A LATHE DRY TURNING OPERATION, Computers & industrial engineering, 27(1-4), 1994, pp. 59-62
This paper presents a comparison of three different experimental desig
ns aimed at studying the effects of cutting parameters variations on s
urface finish, The results revealed that the effects obtained by analy
zing both fractional and Taguchi designs (16 trials each) were compara
ble to the main effects and tow-level interactions obtained by the ful
l factorial design (288 trials). Thus, we conclude that screening desi
gns appear to be reliable and more economical since they permit to red
uce by a factor 18 the amount of time and effort required to conduct t
he experimental design without losing valuable information.
