Al. Perou et Jm. Vergnaud, CORRELATION BETWEEN THE STATE OF CURE OF A COIL COATING AND ITS RESISTANCE TO LIQUIDS, Polymer testing, 16(1), 1997, pp. 19-31
The process of cure of the resin of a coil coating is studied by consi
dering the heat transfer by convection onto the surfaces and conductio
n through the metal and the resin, the mass transport of the solvent b
y diffusion-evaporation, and the cure of the resin. Some properties of
the coating, such as its resistance to a liquid using the rubtest, an
d its flexibility, are determined from experiments. The state of cure
(SOC), which can be evaluated by using a numerical model, is correlate
d with the properties of the coating. The numerical model enables one
to predict the operational conditions necessary to obtain a given valu
e of the state of cure. (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
