Abstract
Experimental investigations including IR, electronic spectra, partitio n coefficient determination were performed on two derivatives in the c lass of 6-(-p-bromophenyl) 3(2H)-piridazinone. The behaviour on reduct ion was studied using cyclic voltametry at stationary and rotating dis k electrodes. The experimental data attest the presence in neutral med ia of the lactam form, the dissociation in strongly alkaline media of the lactim form and the formation on reduction of an unstable anion-ra dical, rapidly undergoing a follow-up reaction. MO calculations in the frame of Extended Huckel and Pariser-Parr-Pople methods support the e xperimental statements.
