The paper reports new complex compounds of Cu(I), Zn(II), Cd(II) and H
g(II) with 6-thioacetylamino-2,3-dichloro-quinoxaline (TAAQ). A correl
ation of elemental analysis, UV, visible and IR spectral analysis data
, conductivity measurements and molecular mass determination, suggests
that these compounds are of the type: [M(TAAQ)Cl-2] in which M = Zn(I
I), Cd(II), Hg(II) and [(CuCl)(2)(TAAQ)(2)]. The thioamide acts as bid
entate ligand using both sulphur and nitrogen atoms of the ''thione''
groups as donors in the formation of complexes and dimerization occurs
through chloride bridges.
