J. Ilmberger, LOCALIZATION OF CORTICAL FUNCTION USING E LECTRICAL-STIMULATION AND FUNCTIONAL MAGNETIC-RESONANCE-IMAGING - PARADIGMS OF NEURONAL STIMULATION, Radiologe, 35(4), 1995, pp. 237-241
In this review, localization of function is discussed with respect to
distributed cortical areas involved in complex mental processing. Afte
r introducing the methodology of lesion studies, some results of studi
es using electrical cortical stimulation are presented. With respect t
o functional magnetic resonance imaging, results and problems from sev
eral experiments are reported, and further questions and perspectives
regarding the two methods are outlined.
