I. Quiquandon et al., TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATED HEMOPHAGOCYTIC SYNDROME - 2 CASES WITH A FAVORABLE OUTCOME, Nouvelle revue francaise d'hematologie, 37(2), 1995, pp. 149-152
Haemophagocytic syndrome is a heterogenous disease characterized by di
sordered macrophage activation associated with viral, bacterial or par
asitic infection. The few reports of haemophagocytosis occurring in th
e presence of mycobacterial infection show a high mortality rate and w
e present two further cases notable for their favourable issue. Rapidi
ty of diagnosis and immediate treatment could explain the avoidance of
a fatal outcome.
