Abstract
A 14 year old gelding, showing neurologic symptoms and a visible swell ing in the right upper cervical region was hospitalized to the 1. Medi cal Clinic: During subsequent diagnostical sonographic examination the right thyroid gland lobe showed multiple echoanomalies, suspicious to hematoma, abscesses or neoplasms. interpretation as hematoma was poss ible by fine needle biopsy. Considering anamnesis a traumatic etiology was supposed.
