The excess enthalpies of liquid alloys in the ternary system Cu-Ge-Te
were determined at 1173 K in a heatflow calorimeter. The largest value
s of the exothermic enthalpies are found on a line stretching from the
compositions Cu2-epsilonTe to GeTe. The results were compared with va
lues calculated from the enthalpy data of the limiting binaries. The e
xperimental data deviate from the calculated values. The difference is
explained assuming ion-ion and ion-atom interactions which are caused
in melts of the binary chalcogen systems by the addition of a third c
omponent.
