P. Zieba et A. Pawlowski, INFLUENCE OF CARBON ON DISCONTINUOUS PRECIPITATION IN CO-32 MASS-PERCENT-W ALLOY, Zeitschrift fur Metallkunde, 86(4), 1995, pp. 256-260
The hypothesis that during the discontinuous precipitation process (DP
) carbon in the cobalt-tungsten alloy interacts with tungsten atoms in
the diffusion process at the moving cell boundary (CB) has been prove
d by means of experimental evidence and calculations. The change of th
e diffusivity at CB has also been estimated in a wide range of tempera
tures for the alloys with and without carbon. An increase of the activ
ation energy of diffusion has been observed in the DP process in the a
lloy with the carbon addition. A method of estimation of carbon amount
s in the DP products has been proposed for the cases in which the expe
rimental analysis of composition is impossible to carry out.
