B. Witek et al., ADAPTATIVE CHANGES IN THE GLUCOSE LEVEL AND ACTIVITY OF SOME LYSOSOMEENZYMES IN THE PLASMA OF STARVED RABBITS, Archiv fur Tierzucht, 38(3), 1995, pp. 341-345
The studies were carried out on 32 random rabbits of the New Zealand W
hite breed. The rabbits were divided into control and experimental gro
ups. Control rabbits received water and food. The experimental rabbits
were deprived of food for a period of 44, 96 and 144 hours. In the pl
asma the glucose level and activity of lysosome hydrolases was measure
d. The starvation of rabbits 44, 96 and 144 hours, showed in majority
of cases a distinct decrease in the glucose level and a decrease of in
vestigated hydrolases activities.
