Nm. Bujurke et al., SEMIANALYTIC APPROACH TO STAGNATION-POINT FLOW BETWEEN POROUS PLATES WITH MASS-TRANSFER, Indian Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics, 26(4), 1995, pp. 373-389
The axially-symmetric laminar flow of an incompressible viscous fluid
with uniform injection through two parallel porous plates is studied u
sing computer extended series. The equations of motion reduce to a non
linear ordinary differential equation by the use of similarity transfo
rmations. We develop the series expansion with polynomial coefficients
of the solution function. Few terms are calculated manually and then
invoke the series expansion for obtaining large number of terms in the
perturbation series solution using computer. Sufficiently large numbe
r of universal coefficient functions are calculated by delegating rout
ine complex algebra to computer. The region of validity of the series
representing pressure gradient is increased by the use of Pade' approx
imants. Calculation of pressure gradient and axial velocity agree favo
urably with earlier pure numerical results. It is found that the veloc
ity component normal to the porous plates is everywhere independent of
radial position. The dimensionless flux across the centre plane is al
so analysed by series method. The region of validity of this series is
increased by Euler transformation followed by completion of the serie
s.
