Sv. Lotnik et al., LOW-TEMPERATURE INTERACTION OF U(IV) AND XEO3 IN FROZEN AQUEOUS H2SO4SOLUTIONS ACCOMPANIED BY CHEMILUMINESCENCE, Kinetics and catalysis, 36(2), 1995, pp. 179-182
Low-temperature (T greater than or equal to 180 K) oxidation of U(IV)
by xenon trioxide accompanied by chemiluminescence is studied in a fro
zen 0.2 M H2SO4 solution. It is shown that the peak of luminescence at
195 - 200 K is related to chemiluminescence of the excited uranyl ion
(UO22+) formed in the oxidation of U(V), an intermediate product of t
he interaction of U(IV) and XeO3.
