Based on the distribution function of the luminophor mass on the subst
rate of a cathodoluminescent screen (CLS), a quantitative relationship
is established between the noise of the CLS and the physical paramete
rs of the coating (packing density, specific loading, particle radius)
. It is shown that the experimental results obtained for a CLS made fr
om the luminophors ZnS:Ag, Y2SiO5:Ce, and Y3Al5O12:Ce correlate with t
he theoretically calculated dependences.
