Abstract
A significant proportion of patients with schizophrenia have increased homocysteine levels that are unrelated to psychopharmacological medic ation or nutrient deficiency in folate or cobalamin. This supports the hypothesis that inherent methylation deficiency is involved in the pa thogenesis of schizophrenia.
