The gallium sulphide cubane compounds E(Me(2)EtC)GaS](4) and [(Et(2)Me
C)GaS](4), have been synthesised, and their potential as MOCVD precurs
ors for Gas is discussed. The molecular structure of [(Et(2)MeC)GaS](4
) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. In addition, the vapour ph
ase structure of the GaSe precursor, [((t)Bu)GaSe](4) has been determi
ned by gas phase electron diffraction and is compared with that previo
usly determined in the solid state by X-ray diffraction.
