Abstract
A general theory of the reflectivity by a perfect X-ray multilayer mir ror based on the use of a recurrent relation is developed. The reflect ivity is described by well-known Fresnel formulae which take into acco unt jumps of susceptibility at the boundary between the layers. The an alytical solution in the frame of a most general dynamical approach ha s been found and the conditions of application of the kinematical appr oximation are discussed. Experimental investigations of multilayer mir rors were carried out and the results were compared with the theory.
