Abstract
The performance of a beamline depends, in addition to other parameters , significantly on the manufacturing imperfections of the optical elem ents and the misalignment of the optical elements from the ideal posit ion. The influence of these errors on a TGM based soft X-ray beamline designed for the Indus-1 storage ring is studied. We have performed ra y-tracing to determine the influence of various imperfections like slo pe error and microroughness in the optical elements and misalignment f actors like three position co-ordinates and three angular deviations f or each optical element on the flux and resolution characteristics. Th e results are discussed in this paper, in terms of tolerance limit one has to put for this beamline on these parameters. The beamline hardwa re should have sufficient high precision flexibility to keep the align ment of the beamline within these tolerance level.
