Oe. Filippova et al., SUPERMOLECULAR STRUCTURE OF THE BLENDS WE AKLY CHARGED POLYMERS IN AQUEOUS-SOLUTION, Vysokomolekularnye soedinenia. Seria A, 37(4), 1995, pp. 610-614
Supermolecular structure of the blends of weakly charged polymers in a
queous solution was examined using the system poly(acrylamide-co-vinyl
sulfonic acid)-poly(1-vinyl-1,2,4-triazole)-water as an example. Phase
diagram of this ternary system was deduced. Separation of the system
into two macroscopic phases was found to be accompanied by the formati
on of microdomain structures in one or in both phases, depending on th
e initial concentrations of components. Dimensions of supermolecular a
ssociates were calculated from turbidity spectra. Experimentally deter
mined radius of supermolecular particles (0.1 mm) lay within the range
theoretically predicted for microdomains in blends of weakly charged
polyelectrolytes.
