A method for the separation of inorganic anions by capillary zone elec
trophoresis is presented and applied to the determination of chloride,
nitrite, nitrate, and sulfate in rain water samples. Direct injection
of samples without addition of buffer leads to a significant increase
of sensitivity due to solvent stacking, but the calibration curves ar
e non-linear and display a poor reproducibility. Using chlorate as int
ernal standard, linear calibration curves are obtained with an accurac
y of better than 10%.
