The noise immunity of algorithms for the reception of a signal as a wh
ole (in the channel memory interval) employing element-by-element deci
sion making in multipath communications channels is estimated by stati
stical modeling. The effect of the parameters of the signal, channel a
nd reception algorithm on the noise immunity is investigated.
